I have just started shooting RAW and have discovered that when I'm in burst mode it stalls because the memory card is too slow.
What would be a good card to support these raw shots?
Please keep in mind I cannot afford the 700 dollar cards.

Are you sure it is the memory card at fault and not the camera buffer size?

Moo, welcome to the Hog.
I'm just gonna guess it's not your cards. Most cards do just fine.
Look in your manual and it will say what the manufacturer recommends for your camera for shooting both stills or video.
Some cameras don't have very big buffers and its very easy to over-shot the buffer capacity/speed.
I'm going to guess that 30mb/second is more than fast enough and that's considered a really slow card.
I've never spent more than $30 for a card. That's a 32gb Sandisk card at 50mb/sec. My camera shots 20mp at 10fps and its fast enough if you don't have a lead foot! :lol:
Leave the pricey UDMA cards to those with speed envy! :lol: :lol:
Only sports pros need those. Good luck

Generally, the faster the card write speed that you can afford, the faster the transfer of the photos and quicker recovery time of the que or cache in the camera. I shoot in both RAW and jpeg and use 32gig -1000x speed cards (not terribly expensive) that work pretty good. I have shot a lot of Blue Angels, SF Giant's games, daughters sporting events and one Tour de France where rapid bursts were very frequent.

SS makes a good point too, it just depends on what type of shooting you do and how much you are willing to spend. :) :)

Keep in mind that you can have the fastest card on the market,but it will be limited by not only the buffer size,but also bythe speed the camera is capable of reading or writing. You can find that info and the SanDisk site provides a table that allows you to input your camera type and view their recommendations.
