I didn't create this, saw it on "dump a day", but it fits on this forum.

I'm curious, why is a camera on a phone any less a camera than another? Are their photographs less than too?

one of those cases where the truth and the story are not related. I think we have all seen the demos where great photographers use the worst possible cameras and still come out with great work. I took it as just what I hope it is, sarcasm.

I suppose thats part of the reason I have seen fit to spend my time and money to improve my skills rather than upgrade my equipment?

If you are hungry, the ramen noodles look pretty good.

If all you have is your phone camera then anything you take with it looks pretty good too.

This was taken with an iPhone:

Cell phones are a poor substitute for good old DSLR inspired G.A.S.!

Laugh now. Camera phones are the future. People laughed at the idea of a horseless carriage, too.

Check this out for what can be done with an iPhone. http://ipod.about.com/od/iPhonePhotosApp/

sorry but I don't think you have that much time....

but here's a thought for you...there's a beautiful shot right in front of you,
you don't happened to have your DSLR with you....do you snap the scene using your phone, or just commit it to memory?

I guess I would have to commit it to memory if I didn't have my DSLR with me. Since retiring I rarely carry a phone, and the one I do carry on occasion has a lousy camera.

well there, that's your problem....check out what some of the newer phones do in the way of photography, you will be surprised....
not to say their up to par with a decent digital camera, yet alone with any DSLR.....BUT to walk around without the ability to shoot what's at hand is the point....a photograph is only a moment in time that mostly likely once it passes will not come around again.....

My opinion: Truth be told, many pro's resent how easy, and how good results many are getting with phone cameras. They are refining them more with each new model and I've seen some pretty awsome shots taken with them.
Back in the 1940's when 'auto' cameras began hitting the scene, we (me and many of my cohorts) resented them because it made taking pictures so much easier for the average 'shooter'... we teased and called them 'Out-a-focus' instead, but look how they've progressed to date. How wrong I was to act that way.... just because I had to manually set my camera and they didn't. Just food for thought.

Lots and lots of nightly news coverage, including World News includes cell phone shots.
Watch your butt, not long ago film shooters scoffed at digital.
Now DSLR shooters are scoffing at mirror-less and cell phones.
They are coming and gonna blow right by us. ;)
