Nice, Robert! I had a brass prairie that I was almost finished with when one of my boys stole it and sold it for drugs.

Too bad tainkc, if you ever make it out this way come by the museum, we only run things on Sat, Sun and holidays when we get enough volunteers but the grounds are open to look everyday except Thanksgiving and Christmas. Looking is free unless a special gated event is taking place, on normal operating days you only need to buy a ticket if you want to ride streetcars or the train.

I took these in July of 2013. I don't remember paying to get in and a volunteer, who's name I forget, took Eric and me to all the buildings and let us photograph as long as we liked. He also gave us the history of everything there. The only building he couldn't let us into was a storage building where the store parts and pieces.

Unless it is a special gated event the museum is free to look. Pay to ride. Since you got a tour it must have been a week day when there are docents in the bookstore to give tours. This event will include tours of the off limits areas including work crew only areas and car barn 7, the big monster in the back that equals all the other storage on the grounds.

When did you leave Elsinore?
The museum has changed greatly in the last decade. Lots of building projects and upgrades.

I moved from Long Beach to Lake Elsinore in 1974 and then to Ohio about 2 1/2 years ago. I hadn't been to the Museum in several years though.

Well you are a little too far to attend the event. Our web site has a lot of stuff www.oerm.org
I am sure there will be pictures posted, I may even get some worth it myself.

That's exactly right. The big building in back is the only one he didn't let us into. I think I'll go back soon during the week. I've got a friend that wants to go take pictures.

Barn 7 is about 50% of our indoor barn space. It can hold over 60 pieces of rolling stock. Access to it is usually work crews only or operations moving pieces in and out.
