Just a fun posting for that 1/2 second off perfect shot, Background in focus but subject not, and general sharing of headless/ feetless and facing the wrong way subjects or any others that made you go "Darn It" and chuckle afterwards?

Does a photo of the inside of my lens cap count ? I have quite a few of those. Amazingly, they all look the same.
I certainly have many more missed opportunities than successful captures. Thinking too long, camera not ready, or no camera on me.

These were taken in Taiwan in October 2014. They are almost right.
Here's my almost photo. Caught wiping spray from waves off the lens - didn't get my hand or the towel out of the way quick enough!

I have several of these. They were all taken with my brand new (at the time) Canon SX50. I was so horribly upset and was ready to return the thing to B&H.
What do you want to bet that my shots look exactly like yours?

Mule, I have the perfect foto that I don't have!
The sun was shining bright and sunbeams were streaming through the forest trees. The perfect lost coast day.
I had my camera on the tripod and it was as steady as the rock of Gibraltar.
I had my best portrait lens on my camera. A razor sharp 85mm f1.2.
I felt just like Mapplethorpe would feel we're he there.
THEN is when it happened. BIGFOOT stepped out from behind an enormous redwood tree. He smiled and walked up and stood right in front of my camera and held up one finger, indicating he was going to give me ONE shot! I was about to become a rich man. He gave me one of those perfect muscle man poses and flexed his perfect biceps(just an aside, but not just his feet are BIG!!).
I composed and snapped the camera.....DANG, the stupid card was full!!!
SS
For me its not about the shots that didn't work from a capture perspective (although there are of course multitudes) but more about the lost opportunities as my camera was sitting idle at home. To counter this, I buy 'point and shoots' to carry with me at all times but am never satisfied with their performance.

Yup even on the coldest days here in Wisconsin my SX50 is riding shotgun in its ziplock bag Along with a monopod and a tripod I picked up at an estate sale
