I had a D800E that had no noise issue, but in my new 810, when tilted, creates a ball bearing rolling noise with the pop up flash closed. I went to a large camera shop and proceeded to inspect other bodies (800, 800E 750 and 600 as well as 2 810 bodies) and found the noise in all of them.
The noise disappears with the built in flash up, but down, is very noisy. Everything functions correctly, but this is still shotty engineering on Nikon's part. If you hear this noise, please email and complain to Nikon for some type of recall. They gladly take your money, but this type of poor design should not be prevalent in these expensive camera bodies.

i pried up the flash and poured in some glue on my new D800.
The rolling noise went away but now i can't get the back open to load the film.
What can i do?

You're pretty quick on the trigger to malign the design and engineering of the camera before you know what is causing it and whether it matters. I suspect the 'noise' has something to do with the spring that raises the flash when you push the button. I can barely hear the noise with my ear right beside the camera so describing it as "very noisy" is a bit hysterical.

30 minutes in a 400° oven should melt the glue, and you'll be ready to go.

If that doesn't work, try heating on power level 3 in the Microwave for 47secs.
Not a second longer or it might distort the rear viewing screen.

got the hot stick glue melted out and replaced it with axle grease.
The ball is silent now but the horizon line view is sluggish and now i i have oil spots on the sensor.
Always something with this cheap shoddy equipment.

Oh okay. Now you need to just do that "dishwasher cleanup", which will relieve you of the oil spots on the sensor.

Dammit! It's "shotty", not "shoddy"!

Most of these fixes are only temporary solutions.
The ONLY way to truly get rid of it forever is to get a Canon!!

My Canon printer plays "the Girl From Ipanema" if I run the wrong paper through it. I called to complain and they told me it was a feature, not a bug.

Isn't that the one that was replaced by the Instamatic? (or was it by the Diana?).

it smoked for a few minutes when i put the battery back in but stopped.
On the positive side the view screen lights up real bright now and i can use it as a flashlight for those 3AM trips to the john.
Neighbor showed me how to get lots of little squares in the viewfinder so now there is always something in the picture which is in focus

Whatever you do, do NOT put a D600 in the dishwasher on ANY cycle. Those that tried to clean the sensors that way, found that now ALL the dishes come out oily and will stay that way forever. You'll have to replace the dishwasher and ALL the dishes as well!!
And those that have complained to Nikon are just told its NORMAL ! 8-)

You guys are all incorrigible!!!
