You're probably out there using it right now, but, what did Santa leave you this year under the tree?

Nothing in hand yet, but a gift card and some cash has me looking through the used gear on line for deals. I may turn it into a Berlbach mini tripod & Manfrotto 410 geared head to refine my macro field set-up.

I'm also blessed with a birthday around the same time-- so it either gets missed or I get a "bonus". ;-)

Santa brought me a new Tamron 180mm macro. I haven't had much time to use it yet but hopefully tomorrow l'll be free.

No photo gear, but I got a Nat Geo book "Complete Photography" (probably too basic, but great pics) and a magazine ad for http://shop.nationalgeographic.com/ngs/product/photography/photography-guides/fundamentals-of-photography-course-on-dvd?product=product%3A2002634 "Fundamentals of Photography" " rel="nofollow" target="_blank"> http://shop.nationalgeographic.com/ngs/product/photography/photography-guides/fundamentals-of-photography-course-on-dvd?product=product%3A2002634 "Fundamentals of Photography"

I can't figure out how to do the link as a word...did it once a while back. I can do it on e-mail. Grrrr. Now I noticed that the page I copied doesn't even go to the right spot! you have to do an extra search for "photography courses"

Uhh, well... none.
I tend to acquire gear as needed.
So for Christmas I did add a Yongnuo 560 IV speedlight. I used it as an off-camera flash trigger mode to fill with. It really worked out well for that.
And I bought a SanDisk Extreme PRO 64GB UHS-1/U3 SDXC, SD Card to see if I could up my burst rate. That didn't really work.
But... what amazed me was how fast the pictures will download to my computer from it. So the buffer in my D3300 is the bottleneck. I'm still keeping the card though, happy with it in the "bag".
Both those items were to up my game with the holiday shots.
Now to process and distribute the 554 photographs I shot.

Oh, and the wife and I shared a new KitchenAid upright mixer.
She made about 45 dozen cookies, cakes, and stuff.
And I got to clean my half of the mixer. I got the dirty half.

I am thinking of a gag gift for next year and am leaning to learner's book in which everything from the incredulaly simple to the hard is converted into extremely complicated terms. Any recommendations.

Haydon, Since I had already gotten a camera a month ago and I had just mentioned this as my dream camera only in brief passing, I really didn't expect that Santa was even taking notes, let alone checking my, be really good at night list!!
So imagine my surprise when on Xmas day, there it was under the tree. And like a little kid on any Xmas, I tore open the wrapping and to my shock was a shiny new PhaseOne camera with 80mp back and 55mm Leaf shutter lens.
I immediately set about taking a shot with it!
But instead of snapping the shot, I just woke up!

My awesome wife bought me a Sony A77ii for Christmas. And to prove how awesome she is, she gave it to me Christmas Eve so it would be charged up and ready by morning. I'm loving it! Amazing camera!
