This is way, way too little info about what you're seeking, for us to give any sort of helpful response.

Many different types of cameras have a "viewfinder" of some sort.

A "viewfinder camera" usually refers to an inexpensive type of point 'n' shoot film camera, most commonly fitted with a fixed lens, that had a simplistic viewfinder without any sort of rangefinder mechanism to assist focusing. Cameras of that sort sometimes simply had a lens with lots of depth of field, or used some sort of zone focusing scheme.

But I doubt that's what you are looking for. Those types of cameras are not common anymore and most people today are looking for digital, not film cameras.

Among digital cameras with viewfinders there are:

1. Compact cameras with non-interchangeable lenses, usually zooms.

2. Compact electronic viewfinder cameras with interchangeable lenses.

3. SLR (Single Lens Reflex) cameras with optical viewfinders that show exactly or nearly exactly what the camera is "seeing" through the lens (typically interchangeable).

4. And, yes, as noted by some others, there also are "view cameras", which are large format, film cameras (typically), with interchangeable lenses. I doubt this is what you're seeking, though.

Finally, there are also accessory viewfinders that can be bought for use on various cameras that don't have a built-in viewfinder. These have to be selected to properly match the lens in use. Usually these are only used with prime (fixed focal length) lenses.... not zooms.

In order to help you, we really need your help better identifying what type of camera you're seeking.

Plus, what you consider "expensive" likely is different from what I or anyone else would consider expensive. Please give us a better idea of your budget. That way you'll get better advice.

I did some checking and found:

at B&H: Nikon P7800 refurbished $399, Nikon P7100 in 8+ condition (moderate wear) $200

at keh.com: Canon G15, ex+, $328, G16, LN-, $399, Nikon P7000, ex+ $165

I have both the P7800 and P7100 and love them both. Both have 28-200mm lenses, hot shoes, and 1/1.7 inch sensors. The P7800 has an f/2-4 lens and an electronic viewfinder (EVF). The P7100 has an f/2.8-5.6 lens and an optical viewfinder (OVF). I prefer the EVF because you see 100% of what the lens sees, and you get exposure and other information in the VF which you don't get with an OVF.

The G15 and G16 have 28-140mm lenses, a 1/1.7 inch sensor, a hot shoe, and an OVF.

Those are good prices for advanced point & shoot cameras.

I am betting that someone seriously looking for a view camera would know what they are called.
And if they don't, they shouldn't be allowed to buy it.
Gradykarn, Lighthouse says...you are forbidden to buy any cameras!

This is one of the real problems with this place - this site is full of grizzled old farts deliberately misinterpreting what people say just so that they can hear their own jaws flap.
Or like in this case, its not even a matter of interpretation.
Its more a matter of that grizzled old fart just plain pretending that something was said that wasn't.

And my humble apologies to all the other grizzled old farts who truly know their stuff from long intelligent thoughtful experience, and help out enormously with intelligent balanced answers. My comments were not directed to you in any way whatsoever.

WOW! I guess you told me a thing or two and your absolutely right, this is one of the real problems with this place, telling a poster She shouldn't buy a camera because she wasn't specific enough with her question. I guess that's your version of a intelligent, balanced, well thought out answer.

And yet again you misrepresent what I said.
It will get really boring if I have to explain to you why I didn't say what you implied.
Perhaps you could read slower so you understand better?

Try an antique store, find one, buy it, and then restore it followed by using quality lenses such as those manufactured by Schneider.
