Too shoot FBF you must first turn the camera around, find your focus point then duck out of sight as rapidly as possible. I never got the hang of it but might work for you. :D :D

I just started to use BBF last week and it works just fine. It's simple to go back and forth when you need too. Just remember what you need to do.

I just learned to use BBF, too, and it came in soooooo handy when a hawk landed in our weeping cherry tree recently but perched on a branch BEHIND a multitude of twigs! It was almost constantly behind those twigs but I was finally able to catch the eye in focus and hold that focus thanks to BBF. It's worth the research. Not sure how I can switch back and forth from shutter focus though. I use D5100. Any advice welcome.

At least they are cute ones. hehehe

I've been using BBF for years.
Just be aware that when you switch to auto, BBF does not work on the EOS bodies.

Why would you want to switch back? or back and forth?

Sometimes I forget they have an auto mode.
Some people never leave it.

Because I do a LOT of different types of photography, sometimes taking 1000 images in a few hours and I think BBF is a little more tiring than shutter.

Is your drive mode set to AI Focus?

Not sure what AI focus is. I'm mostly on continuous.

A1 starts with the 'normal' one shot AF but switches automatically to A1-servo (continuous) if the camera detects subject movement. I don't understand how it distinguishes between subject and camera movement.
