Watching a Nikon commercial I noticed they pronounced it "Neecon". Paul Simon in the song Kodacrome pronounces it "Niikon". Which is it? I like the Paul Simon version better. :D

That all depends on what part of the world you live in. In the western world its usually pronounced Nykon. In the orient it is usually pronounced Nikkon. Its primarily because of differences in pronunciation rules in the different languages.

Your about 12,000 miles from where I live. Does that mean that if we are both making a shot at the same time that you would be upside-down?

I taught at the Nikon headquarters in Prague and they and the other European Execs all pronounced it "Neekon" as dictated by head office in Japan.
I would think that the owners of the company would know how to pronounce their own company name.

We're simply saying that it depends where on earth you have learned to pronounce the word. How does the President/CEO OF Nikon pronounce it? Give them a call at:

Nikon Imaging Japan Inc.

Tel: +81-3-3769-7900
Main businesses: Sales and servicing of cameras

That would be like asking a Mexican how to say "George".

No, it would be like asking a French person to pronounce, "rendezvous"!

I give up. Can't argue with someone who already has his mind made up and refuses to consider all possibilities.
