Camera Comparisons Snapsort

I have an SX50 which I like, but am not fond of the range finder with or without wearing my glasses. I have been interested in the SX60 or possibly a Sony. In comparing the 60 with the 50, Snapsort gives the 50 a 100 and the 60 a 54. The 60 has more mega pixels, faster focusing and several other new features. Do these sites place too much on the price of the cameras or can the 50 actually be a better camera? I am just mainly a point and shooter.

Snapsort will give you a quick comparison of features, but not necessarily quality. That's fine if you are just looking for an overall view, but I definitely wouldn't base any buying decisions on their recommendations.

A couple of folks have posted photos to UHH taken with the SX60. Some prefer the image quality of the 50, but others are happy with the newer model. I'm told it does have a better viewfinder!

Check out and compare the SX50 and the SX60 at the same focal lengths, and see how they compare. THe SX60has a longer optical range, better wide angle and much better EVF, and an even better screen. Then decide. Don't only rely on others reviews.

Agree. In my opinion Snapsort is pretty meaningless. It determines which camera is "better" strictly based on the specification numbers, not on the usability or the quality of the sensor and the resulting images. Not a terribly valid approach. Unfortunately, too many people use it to make purchase decisions.

I still think it's pretty valid when you just look at these numbers (as an example). It's not a perfect science, but it helps to see the Dynamic Range and IQ quickly.

Farmer, I never look at that site. But one time when someone here put up a link to it to lobby their cause, I did look at it.
They had stuff on there that was Sooo irrelevant to camera quality, is the reason I dispelled it as a useful decision tool. One of the things they had listed, among others, was, "popularity"!!
I think that site is best for teenagers buying very low cost cameras. Just saying. ;-)
