Did anyone read the Weekly Photo Challenge directions?
"The challenges are simple. You start with a theme, but the twist is that everyone needs to submit a title or description with their photo that explains the who, what, where, why, when or how they went through to get it. This helps us feel the moment as you did, but can also help with voting. You might even find some great tips along the way."
So far, not one person has written much of anything about what they went through to get the photo.
Did anyone create a true Vertorama photo and tell us they did it.?

Those directions are in place every week - not just this week. Perhaps this is the first time you've read them.

Many times Steve will give a short definition of the subject along with link(s) for more reading.

I'm not really picking on you Erik, but this is often the problem with the weekly contests.
Not only this week, but frequently the contest has submissions from members who don't have a clue what the subject is about. I expected this would be a problem when I saw the subject for the week and I have not been disappointed. Fully half (or more) of the submissions are not "on subject" and should be deleted. "Vertorama" does not mean vertical (portrait) orientation, it does not mean just any time you have your camera pointed up in the air, it does not mean just anything that's up in the air (such as an airplane or a bird sitting on a post).
I'm glad this subject was posted, riverlass, 'cause I've been holding off on ranting about this for a couple of days. And it could have all been avoided if the posters would spend two minutes looking at the links provided be St3v3, to figure out what the subject is about.
And I know it doesn't address your concern about the "who, what, where, why, when or how they went through to get it", but I think this is a more serious ongoing problem with posters who just don't "get it".

Actually, that was said somewhat tongue in cheek. Granted, when I first saw the subject, I'd never heard of vertorama, but after a quick Google search, (Imagine that!) I found out and now I want a good gimbal lead! :) The link that Shellback provided has a couple of shots that really impressed me (Thanks Shellback, you owe me a gimbal head ;-)).
Like you Larry, I'm often surprised by how many entries aren't even close to the subject matter proposed for the challenge.

I have a brother named Steve and I always had a hard time pronouncing St3v3M.
