Most photo buffs are usually ALSO other-wise CRAFTY. Artistic in other ways. Good with their hands and at grasping Spatial concepts in performing a task......So I bet that most macro-Shooters have come up with their own Light-Box, to properly illuminate the subject... Well, I, as a novice, but avid fan of Macro-shooting (love some of the images) would appreciate any Ideas and suggestions on a "proper" light box..... Thanks, in advance to all.. RJM (digit-up)

For hand-held field set-ups, take a look here, pages 4 thru 6:

There are also indoor "table-top" macro-studios on earlier pages.

Lighting

If you are planning on using a light table in which you can use multiple lights and reflectors, then you may want to study how commercial products are photographed (they frequently have a softbox above and slightly behind the object ). Most macro photos in the field are illuminated with a single light source and this approach is similar to single light portrait photography. :-)

Most of my macro diffusers are Do-It-Yourself. Check out all the different macro rigs here to get some ideas: http://orionmystery.blogspot.com/2010/12/more-macro-rigs.html
