It seems the Huffington Post is using my images without my knowledge. They have a photo credit, but they did not obtain permission to use the images. Interesting.

Hope you didn't use them on a site where the nano-print says you give up your rights to the photo and Huff Post got it from them. Have you contacted Huff Post about it?

About two weeks ago the Huff Post ran one of my alligator vs. crab photos from this series here: http://phillanoue.com/2014/09/12/crabby-1-alligator-0/

But they got it legit from the news agency in the UK that picked up the photos which ended up going worldwide.

I'm not surprised.
Plagiarizing your Photographs for their profit.
I'll stop at that....

I see why it is legit and why it's a surprise.

They took them from the web site that they could have bought rights to them. I haven't heard a thing from them.

When you click on the image to try to copy it, it states you can purchase rights. Not sure what gives.

I am waiting to see what really happened until I actually get upset.

Well it wasn't a surprise I knew the news agency was sending out the photos it's just a matter of who picks them up and pays for them vs. who grabs them and doesn't pay for them.
These photos ran on several sites that didn't pay including this one out of Taiwan but they gave me a photo credit and linked back to my blog so it's all fine with me.
I got 7000 hits a day for 2-3 days from this one site alone.

Here's just a couple of other legit places the photos ran:

https://uk.news.yahoo.com/cheeky-crab-stands-its-ground-after-hungry-alligator---and-gives-him-a-pinch-on-the-nose-113211142.html#TsBoVLt

I've had my photos show up on buzzfeed and all manner of other sites but they always give me a photo credit and often link back to the blog so it's all good as far as I'm concerned.

The Huffington Post is farther left than Pravda. Send Old Lady Huffington an email and ask her to pay you for copyright infringement.

Have you got a contract with Caters News Agency that you might have forgotten about. They are a UK based agency that acts as a agent for photographers and brokers sale of photographs to mostly European news media. I have sold one image through them to several different European news papers. Caters writes the blurbs based on information you provide, usually credits you and pays you though not lavishly. But they don't tell you who they sold it to.
