If a company wants to purchase the rights to one of my images..what is the typical asking price? Thanks I have no idea...

I would say, A LOT. There is no simple answer to this. It sounds like you would be giving up all rights and it depends on what the company plan to do with it. Make a lot more money out of on-selling than what they pay you? You need to be careful and look into it closely. It might be down to what you think the image is worth to you and what it is used for. I very, very rarely sell the rights to an image.

Kalina congrats.
What you can ask depends on the uses.
Top notch pros and those rep'ed by agencies get as much as $5k and relinquish all rights, but some of these guys are famous.
Stock places can pay as little as a couple dollars per use.
So if you don't sell a lot of pics the value will be less. Some publications have a set scale.
Ask them what they feel comfortable paying and see if that works for you.
Good luck

Do not make the early mistake I made several years ago now.
Do NOT sell the rights.
Sell the right to use your image to the company.

Agree.

Single use rights would be better.

Do you know the company? How much exposure will the photo get?

Depends on the company, the intended use, and what they are willing to pay and/or what you are willing to accept. Don't be greedy and you will get a reasonable offer. Never surrender your copyright, but feel free to offer to sell limited rights.

You might want to use a third party such as an agent who knows the ropes and can get you the best deal.I agree with Gene51 about giving up your copyrights.
