Havent seen anything on the Forum about this. Has anyone heard Sandisk has released a 512 GB card?

Now you too can lose 6 weeks worth of "Once-in-a-lifetime" safari shots in one go.

Approx $800.

You mean 2 days worth of shooting?

Well, a 10mp camera shooting RAW the card would hold about 17,000 pics. So no, not 6 weeks by any means but probably more than 2 days worth.

I have a 128 Gb card and I fill that easily twice a day.

I can burn through 64GB pretty quickly shooting RAW and JPG. I'd rather spread my bets over several smaller cards. A few 16GB cards might be wiser in my case.

Yeah,I find the thought of losing a full 512 card a little daunting. I have a number of 8's and 16's and download them every night, especially when I'm away.

I just saw a video on Jared Pollin's Facebook page. He had went to Photokina. He showed the card in the video.

I think these huge SD cards are offered for video shooting in HD.
I wouldn't jeopardize a whole trip or sitting on just one card unless it was destined for a long video shoot and I wanted it all on one file source, but at $800 a card, I can live with smaller cards and patching clips together in PP editing.

I agree with multiple smaller cards. I have 4 sets of 16gb cards, and one set of older 8gb cards. I have a D7000 which has two SD card slots. I use one set for JPEG and one set for RAW. I can screen in JEPG and post process (the ones that I selected in JEPG) in RAW. The four sets suits me well, as we have been to Ireland, Italy, Yellowstone, and Kauai in the last few years. I use a set each day, and after a few days download to my Macbook Pro AND WD Passport external drive.
Also a lot of "snapshots" of grandchildren.
Just my $.02.

I haven't heard of such a large card, but it may be possible. I never use cards over 64 GB. Most of my cards are 32 GB, with some 16 GB cards. In my opinion, it will cost less to buy more smaller cards than one large card, and you are less likely to lose photos that way. And I wonder how fast a card that size will be.

A 128 card shooting RAW @ 16 MP can hold 2666 pics. I find it a little difficult to think that you easily fill that card more than twice a day.

Nothing difficult about that, have done that many, many times. Even when I was shooting film (before shooting both), when I had something really interesting to shoot, I did shot a lot of times 20-30 rolls of film in a day (36 exp.). Now, for example, over the fourth of July, I on average take about 6000 pics a day -sometimes more, sometimes less.

This is interesting. How can you say how large a file will be, emphasis on the word "will"? Upon what rate you basing your assumption? What method are you using to predict the size of the file?
