Yeah I wasn't being a jerk, i just meant the photo had little depth of field, not a lot of reference for size and soundings, and you couldn't really tell where the focus point was.

I know you weren't submitting it as a photo to be critiqued, i just didn't think it showed off the best/worst aspects of the lens.

It was nothing personal. Thanks Lighthouse.

Like I said no problem. If you read my explanation, I was wanting to do a series of landscapes, at different apertures, but the light and timing and my schedule (visiting in-laws) kept messing up my plan, so I took a quick shot--I really like my weed garden, go figure--and posted it.

I also posted several others in response to specific requests but none of those who've requested that have commented. Everyone seems obsessed with the first shot. No one seems to have any comments about the new 20mm lens, which is what the whole thing was supposed to be about.

I really like the lens, for the record.

Take care

Thank you moonhawk,
not how you'd shoot this lens???
Why the heck not?
For my way of thinking, this is one of the things they were created to do!!!!!!
Expand your repetoire moonhawk, you have the tool, use it!!!
Your first test shot was boring, this has much more life, vitality.

I am sorry if my response to your shallow DOF shots, that I posted immediately below the shots, was hidden for you, and thank you for posting them.

OK, I did see those, and thank you. I was referring to requests for rectilinear shots.

And all I meant about not how I'd use the lens is I'd stop it down for a little more depth of field. I do like the one with the Asters--The one with the dried flower bud had barely two petals in focus, and the rest was bokeh--not too shabby bokeh either. The wind was howling that day, by the way, so I was lucky to get what I did. They are actually a little closer to my kind of shot, just not usually at 6" away, and more like f/11-f/16.

I prefer a longer lens for wildflower shots anyway, but the wide angle is interesting, and I like that the new 20 can get so close.

But I understand you wanted to see what the lens would do, and so did I. My comment about how I would use the lens wasn't meant as a criticism, just an observation.
