If you already have the Nikor 28-300 AF-S Lens which I have been using on my D7100. I know the lens is FF and I am using it on an DX. What lens would you get for the D750.

Thanks In advance
Pat

To begin, for the 750, I would get the 14-24, 24-70, 70-200, 80-400, 17-35, 24 1.4 prime, 35 1.4 prime, 85 1.4 prime, 105 macro, 200 mm and 300 mm. I would keep the 28-300 for travel.

Thank you, is that in order of how you would get them?

The order will take more thought.

I shoot mostly out door wild life and close up shots of butterflies, bees, dragonflies, etc. I do little portrait work but enough that I do use Portrait Professional. I have all kinds of DX type of lenses for my D3100, D5300, and D7100. I only have the FF lens I already mentioned.

Since you have the lens which covers a lot, you get to be very specific about the other lenses.

For close-up work, the Nikon AF-S 105mm f/2.8G VR is excellent, as well as the older Nikon AF 105mm f/2.8D. Sigma, Tamron, and Tokina also make macro lenses in the 100mm range. Many find these lenses work well for portraits as well.

For your outdoor shots, how wide do you like to go? With the DX cameras, did you tend to shoot wider than 16mm or not? If so, then there are several good ultrawide options, starting with the Nikon AF-S 14-24mm f/2.8G, but with quite a few other excellent options.

If I already had the 28-300mm, and you had been using it on your D7100, I would get it back off you.

Now in order, what would I buy?

16-35mm
105mm Macro
50mm F/1.4
One of the 150-500/600 offerings from Sigma
Thats a start.

14-24/2.8, 24-70/2.8, 70-200/2.8. 200-400/4 - no overlaps. For macro, go with the 105 or the 200 for a bit more breathing room.

I've been using the 28-300 on the D750 since Friday while I get familiar with the camera. Results look the same as on the D610 - un-be-leave-i-gable!
I'm sure it will remain my travel lens.

Sorry, no comments on the D750 itself. I just had to have the tilting monitor.
So far I've been able to treat it as a D610.

Would agree, but for the 200mm macro which is a heavy lens without stabilization. I sold my 200mm macro and purchased the Sigma 180mm macro which performs much better on moving bugs.

Good advice. I'm heading to Adorama right now. :D

EDIT: Whoops! Credit card declined. I guess $24,140 was a bit over my limit.

That's happened to me, too, but it was mice on the keyboard, rather than rats. :D

I'd go with the first three from Lighthouse. Then I'd consider the 70~200 f4g as an alternative to the f2.8. Saves $1000 and all you give up is weight and 1 f-stop. If there's a safari in your future, save for the AF-S 80~400G.

I agree with you on the tilt screen, I have the D5300 which has it, and while it can be a pain to open just to see the shot you took, when I need it, it is fantastic. Keeps me out of the mud or off the ground on my belie.

It is my first FF camera and I hope to have it soon.
