Well I finally got my 70-200 f4.0L back from Canon repair. I posted earlier about my old tripod leg failing and lens busted right off the camera. The "penalty" for my mistake was $210.

I am happy to have it back as I really like it for walk around.

With a Canon tech working on it, it should be as good as it possibly can be, as compared to an assembly line version. The price wasn't bad, considering parts and labor. They got it back to you pretty fast.
Why, yes, that is a bird!
That's sharper than my 70-200. Maybe I should break mine!
:?
Did you replace that faulty tripod with a quality one?
Do you think it is the same lens?--I have gotten back new/refurbished with a different cereal number--always worked fine though

These three are excellent! Thank you for posting them. I don't think my Nikon D7000 with my Nikon 70-200 lens could beat or possibly even match these.
The TWO birds (one in the clouds on the right, one in the clear sky near the top) look like Turkey Vultures to me. What a life they must lead up there!
I wonder how your lens would do at that distance set to 200mm focal length. That's where mine gets a bit soft with a bit of fringing, but still much better than my two Tamron lenses.
I have no idea on what was done for the repair but $210.00 seems like a reasonable amount considering some of the cost I read about.
I guess the next step is a new sturdy, quality tripod. If you continue to have interest with late night photography, surely a flashlight would be of assistance. Good luck!
I did trash the tripod but, have not bought new one yet.
Yep, sure is another bird wings 42. I missed it
It is a new case because I know the screw threads for the base were stripped out.
I've always heard that Canon repair or refurb is better than new.
