Looking for suggestions on new camera strap. I would like to upgrade from the strap(s) that came with my Canon Camera to something more comfortable (and with less advertising). Prefer that it attaches in the same way as the current one does rather than screwing into the tripod mount. I would also prefer not to spend over $100.00 if possible.

Appreciate everyone's thoughts and suggestions!

I love my op/tech padded strap!! I have never used the ones that came with the EOS cameras. Mine has removable clips, and no, they will not break. I have a 50d and heavy lenses, and I've used these straps for years. They are great! Oh, and not too expensive, maybe 25 dollars, can't remember, but check B&H.

I like Dsptch straps, they're plain, inexpensive, tough but comfortable. I only use straps on the lugs, never in the tripod screw mount.

Don't discount the screw in option for a sling strap. Once you use a sling strap, you won't want to use anything else, I promise! I use a Joby sling with the Joby plate that attaches to the tripod threaded hole. The plate has multiple threaded holes and since I use a tripod routinely, I keep both the strap and the tripod plate screwed in all the time. Saves so much time and is totally robust and secure!

I use the Tamrac N-45 strap -- I have them on both of my cameras, they attach just like the Nikon/Canon straps do but about 3-4 inches up from the camera body you can detach both sides and just have the camera - good for when mounted on tripod or walking through brush in a forest comes in black or tan brushed leather. It doesn't slide off the shoulder either because of the brushed leather See here:

I do not know about Nikon but Canon specifically says not to use the tripod socket. It is not made for this purpose and people have reported failures like cameras being destroyed when then fall to the ground. Check with Nikon.

As for my Canon 60D, I use the Bosstrap. An excellent product. Read the strength specs. The strap is very soft and flexible.

Best choice at the best price is the OpTech USA products. They make both neck straps and sling straps. The soft, shock absorbing material is a joy to wear and will never chafe your neck or shoulder.:

I love my PeakDesign leash strap. Super lightweight and multi-configurable. Their new strap (to be released October/November looks great too).

Ditto. Strong, comfortable, inexpensive. Suggest you buy the strap from Camera Cottage. Owned by MT Shooter. A Hog member whose advise is always helpful

Another vote for OpTech here. I've got two of their sling straps and absolutely love them.
I'm also not inclined to use the tripod screw - it's not designed to hold the weight of the camera.

Agreed. Think about it. There is a reason that cameras have lugs and come with straps that use them.

And yet we screw them into our tripods with heavy lenses without tripod collars and never give it a thought, eh? Never heard of dslr tripod threaded screw breaking for any reason... Having said that, almost all sling style straps that use the threaded tripod mount also have a safety strap to one of the lugs in case some idiot forgets to tighten the attachment point... I have heard of that happening, but never an actual breakage...
