Pretty sure you could purchase a D4 or 1DX and still have the same problems. You really need to learn what your camera can do. Seems to me you are hung up on pixels, that has very little to do with what you are having problems with. You are doing well with your learning the advantages of different settings, you just need more time. The T4i is a good camera and will serve you well until you are fully versed in what it can do. There are numerous YouTube videos of the T4i and one can learn each aspect you are looking for. Good luck
