Has anyone gone on a one week photo shoot of Belize? Am thinking of going there with a Company called "Wildside Workshops". Accommodations look to be basic, but the daily photo activities seem to be awesome. Am also considering a trip to "Death Valley" with a Company called the "Barefoot Contessa". Need help deciding. The Death Valley trip is much cheaper than the Belize trip

I would say it depends on whether you like lush tropical photography or barren desert photography.

Not sure, but leaning towards Belize. The creatures in the rain forest appear to be awesome

I was stationed in Panama in 1970 and I find the desert critters more fascinating. Panama is not Belize, but at my age I find I don't like sitting in airplanes for long periods of time.

I have no problem sitting in airplanes for long periods of time. Have been to South Africa twice in the last six months. 17 hours non stop from JFK to Johannesburg.

Belize is nice, but I think Costa Rica is much better. I wouldn't spend much money to go back to Belize, but I would for CR.

Concur with Amehta - CR is definitely the place to shoot!

Belize wants you to buy land there too. It's on TV all the time.

Very true. When I was there, my uncle and I went into a realtor's office who specialized in American and European buyers. Belize has the singular advantage of being an English-speaking country, since it was a British colony.

How are the prices? Is it price gouging for a perceived chunk of tropical paradise, or a real desire to increase their population that includes middle class Americans who can't spend $1 million?

Somewhere in the middle. It wasn't price gouging, but there was the assumption that Americans were buying the to 10% of properties, so they were more expensive than median properties.
