I would like to see a photo of what you have done. Maybe a separate thread if you are not invited to do so here. I have done some something similar to attach a Sigma 150-500 to my Optec harness. I had to undo the stitching because the end was too big to go through the hole in the lens mount.

Me too! Katherine you always have good "crafty" ideas!!

Edit to my original post...
I have one attached to the tripod foot and it works great with my 70-200. One of these is what I use attached to a small hole on the back of the tripod foot: http://optechusa.com/system-connectors/uni-loop.html

I've used the OTstraps for a while and like the way they work. I recently found a Tamron 150/600 and don't like the idea of all that weight connected to a D7000 with the OT strap connected to the camera lugs only. OT offers a product called the "Mini Loop" connectors that loop around the base of the lens putting only the weight of the camera body on the lens mount, as far as I can tell. I am interested in UHH's opinion on this design.

This product can be seen at http://optechusa.com/system-connectors/lens-loops.com.

Thanks, Bill

I don't think it matters what strap you're using, if the lens has a tripod collar, that's were the camera strap should go. A tripod collar is there for a reason!

I will take some pics and email them to you--
I was told by MT not to carry the camera with the heavy lens with the regular strap so I made this to work and carry it from the collar
