I've used the OTstraps for a while and like the way they work. I recently found a Tamron 150/600 and don't like the idea of all that weight connected to a D7000 with the OT strap connected to the camera lugs only. OT offers a product called the "Mini Loop" connectors that loop around the base of the lens putting only the weight of the camera body on the lens mount, as far as I can tell. I am interested in UHH's opinion on this design.

This product can be seen at http://optechusa.com/system-connectors/lens-loops.com.

Thanks, Bill

That's a dead link in your post. Here's a live link.

I use an Optech Sling Strap and love it. I only have one connector holding my D5200 and 55-300, but I also wrapped a piece of Velcro around the connector, similar to ones Optech sells, for a little more insurance. I looked at the video at Optech's site and it looks pretty secure to me. These guys know what they're doing and they're reasonably priced. They always get a lot of thumbs up here at UHH. I'd give it a shot if I had your setup.

I have one attached to the tripod foot and it works great with my 70-200. ;)

Thanks for correcting the link. From the UHH comments I'm going to try them.

I have searched the OpTech catalog and cannot find a "Mini Loop Adapter" although OpTech makes many adapters and connectors, some with the word "mini" and some with the word "loop." Unfortunately, with OpTech, precise nomenclature is crirical. Can you please look at:

http://optechusa.com/system-connectors.html?limit=all

and identify the connector you wish to use. If it is not on that page, perhaps you could post a picture of the device. Your URL creates a 404 error. Thank you.

I took apart and re sewed a couple of their connectors to make a carrier for my sigma 150-500 I could post a picture of it if you want to see. Then when I need to carry it very far I can hook the strap to it and it is easy to carry

Are these mini loops similar to your project?

I would like to see a photo of what you have done. Maybe a separate thread if you are not invited to do so here. I have done some something similar to attach a Sigma 150-500 to my Optec harness. I had to undo the stitching because the end was too big to go through the hole in the lens mount.

Hi Bill, I think you are correct to worry about the weight of this lens being supported by your camera, any camera in fact. I am told that the weight can distort the camera/lens connection so my suggestion is to get if off and find another way.

I've been using an OT strap with mini loop connectors for over two years with all my lenses, including the Sigma 150-500 and no issues. OT has great products.

I haven't used the mini, but I have used these. I have them on all my cameras. Let's see if this link works.

I have two straps from OP/TECH I love them both. I think what you are talking about is the Secure-its. I have full faith in these holding my camera secured to the QD connectors. Having them wrapped around the clasps tightly I know they will not open up. You get 4 in the pack and I do use all.
