After many years of shooting right side bolt action rifles from my left shoulder I won 1 and bought 1 left side bolt action. One is a .270 Savage and the bought one is .300 Weatherby. They both spend a lot of time on the shelf as I prefer the right side action. Force of habit I guess. I also hold a pistol in my right hand but sight with my left eye. The advantage is I don't have to wear my glasses when hunting. It's the way GOD made me, so I love it!!!!skip

I find it interesting that so many photographers here are mixed dominant. Is it a coincidence that many of my students with emotional disorders were either left handed or mixed dominance?

We left handed people are just a mess! But we are in our right minds. LOL

I am left handed and only do things with my right hand when forced to, like using a camera. But I did come to a realization after reading this thread.....

When taking snaphots, I keep missing the shot or something gets in the way before I ever get the picture taken and I think it is because my right finger just doesn't react as fast I my left one would if I could use it.

I do have a question, do you lefties think other lefties look strange when doing something left handed? I know I do.

As an addendum to this discussion I'll add a few things.
I write left handed, but not in the usual way leftied do - I do not "hook." I write in an exact mirror image of a rightie, so do my daughters.
All through elementary school the teacher would come by my desk, take the pencil out of my left hand and put it into my right hand, all the while telling me that the left hand was that of the devil! (Is the devil left handed?) Well, it may be, but my left hand makes and repairs furniture, makes stained glass windows and I am a LEFT HANDED drummer (I always got stuck at the end of the drum line so my drum didn't bang against the righties' drums.
I'm pretty ambidextrous, but in a 90% rightie world you have to be. I play golf righthanded but am a switch hitter in baseball.
I am also left foot dominant. Again, as a leftie you must learn to live in a righthanded world.
I am right eyed for photography, but left eyed with a rifle and pistol.
My hero is the leftie, Leonardo (but I can't paint like him, other than with a roller!)
As an addendum to this discussion I'll add a few t... (show quote)

I remember the teachers, my mother went in and told her off. Lucky for me my mom was an artist with a BA in Art, so she knew all to well about left handed artist.

Besides, left handed people are the only ones in there right brain.

I am L eye dominant as well but find myself using both eyes. I switch not even realizing it at times .... does this equate to amidexreous...?sp., haha. My daughter says I am a dork as well and she has a fish in her salt water tank named DORI like in the movie Nemo......she says it's a reminder of me.......LOL!!

I am right handed left eye dominate also. Don't really think about much, just adapt. Shooting the camera hasn't been a problem but shooting fire arms is a bigger challenge.
