It's groundhog day ... let's hope it signals a short winter or early spring .. however you want to look at it. :) What a coincidence ... speaking of the way you look at things ... Today's challenge is ... the dreaded Rule Of Thirds. I know it's one of my biggest challenges .. I keep forgetting to look for that so I am reduced to cropping with the rule of thirds in mind. So for those of you not familiar with the Rule Of Thirds .. here is a basic overview: The principle behind the rule of thirds is to imagine breaking an image down into thirds (both horizontally and vertically) so that you have 9 parts. Kind of like a tic tac toe grid (see 1st photo)
With this grid in mind the rule of thirds now identifies four important parts of the image that you should consider placing points of interest in as you frame your image.
The theory is that if you place points of interest in the intersections or along the lines that your photo becomes more balanced and will enable a viewer of the image to interact with it more naturally. Here are a few examples of cropping for rule of thirds .. today I need to actually go out and shoot with this in mind.
I look forward to seeing what y'all post. Remember to have some fun with it. P.S. I left the grid on for an example.
I pray you wake up this morning feeling much better and rested. I really love your 1st, 2nd & last photos today, although they all are good. Which of your lenses did you use to the macro shots of the flowers?

Thanks, Nikon D7000 with the 18-200mm lens. I love a zoom with the kids, let's me stand back. A real challenge with super bright sun and deep shadows. I metered off the sky for all the shots, this kept the clouds from blowing out.

Just wanted to share these shots with you. My oldest son and wife, grandkids and my youngest son and daughter,
I love beach shots. The close up portrait is stunning! Did you ever say the kind(s) of camera you use?
