We went on a road trip. This is one of the pictures from the day. Constructive C & C welcome.

I think you took a great photograph of a nice looking young man. I like the way you framed him with the tree.

It is a good photo. I think it is too bad that he has sunglasses on. It would be nice to see his eyes.

Very nice , I think lightening the shadow on the shoulder would help , I seem to be drawn to that spot to much , easy fix in any PP software . Composition , white balance and background blur are spot on .

Thank you! He really is one of the nicest teenagers I've ever known.

Thank you! I can't disagree with you about the sunglasses. That was the way he wanted the picture taken. The funny thing is you can see his very camera shy Mother in his glasses. If we do that again, she will probably have his take them off.

Thank you! I'm not the greatest at PP. How do I lighten the shadow?

Heres my version .

PS I notice the color change ? dont understand it , as I never adjusted the color . Must be download and upload loss , I am curios about it . lets try to boost it back with LR

I ended up just using exposure adjust and the paint brush to hide the line between the adjusted and original .

Thank you, I like that. I will play with it some more. Always good to learn something new. I just always seem to be short on time to really learn these wonderful programs and I really do believe that most photos benefit from a little touching up.

Just a minor point on the pose. The finger(s) of his left hand are just barely visible above the right arm. I think this might be improved by:

a) hiding the fingers or
b) exposing more of the hand

A reflector to slightly open up the shadow side of the face - just enough to see a little detail there.

(I don't care for the glasses either but I'm not the client!)

A very pleasing portrait!
The eyes are key in a portrait. I would have also done a shot without the sunglasses. The glasses look "cool" but they leave something missing in the shot.
I agree the finger showing is a minor problem. I don't consider it a major issue as the source is obvious. Showing more or less of the fingers would still be an improvement.
I like the overall impression of the photo, however the bare arm/elbow is closest to the camera making it appear much larger than the subject's head which should be the main focus.

I think the revised photos lessening the shadow from the head now create a mismatch with the shadow under the arms.

I agree , with all you have said , reflector to rid those shadows would have been the way to go . Thumbs up. Also 20 more minutes in photo shop could do it but in camera is always the way to go .
