Canon claims a dominant showing at the Cup:
"A look to the sidelines in Brazil revealed a familiar sight to many sporting event fans Canon EOS Digital SLR cameras, equipped with iconic white Canon telephoto EF lenses. Throughout the tournament, approximately 70 percent of imaging professionals chose Canon DSLRs and lenses to capture and share the memorable moments of these passionate and prideful soccer matches. Much like The Big Game, in which 75 percent of imaging professionals on the sideline of that gridiron matchup chose Canon equipment."
   From a Canon user :-D
Never ceases to amaze me how many settle for second best. ;)

 It's really to no one's surprise. 75% of action that's professionally shot is Canon territory; conversely 75% of studio work is Nikon territory. It's really what best suits each, on the pro level. :D
Let's see what my comment starts, if anything!
What never ceases to amaze ME, is how many actually BELIEVE that Canon is second best!!
The world, has spoken!!

Who said second best? Third or fourth or maybe fifth at best. Nikon, Sony, Fugi, Pentax you fill in the blanks. ;)

Lukan, it's pretty easy for anyone of us to do the informal observations.
And it's got nothing to do with lab tests or what many just think, because it's how they have always thought, and it is SO very hard to teach an OLD DOG to roll over, in the other direction!! :lol
Just turn on the TV, to you're favorite channel where cameras congregate, and simply count the lenses. No fuss, no lab Bull Sh*t.
But, the other number you threw out, the studio 75%, is an easy number to say, but gonna be pretty hard to support! THAT number I need to see supported in print, before I just accept it, as just because! ;-)

Of the names you mentioned, only one has more than a 1% pro presence, and that's Nikon. Canon is the go-to choice for the vast majority of professionals who shoot things that move. You might not like them, but that doesn't change facts.
I have a very strong affinity for Olympus (the OMD E-M1) and the Sony A99 (with Zeiss glass), but neither is a professional's choice come crunch time. :-)

David, yes, maybe even 10th, or maybe even 100th, and I'm sure just behind Petri and Argus!
Whatever it's place may be, I'm gonna give you(and your friends) a little advice......., go out and buy at least a dozen Nikons tomorrow!!
Wouldn't want Nikon to slip to number THREE, now would we??!!

I was being generous and kind to the sensitive Nikon-users that take all this stuff so seriously. Truth is though, I bet there are more Nikons in studios because of that 36mp sensor. The 75% might be high, granted. Let's go with 52%! :D

Mr. Canon, er, SharpShooter, took you longer than I thought it would to take the bait. ROTFLMAO

Lukan, I'm tweaking Mr. Canon aka. SS. I shoot Nikon and he shoots Canon. Who really cares?

Exactly! I've consistently seen gorgeous pictures from both. Several of my friends shoot Nikon, and when we swap gear (not wives), we appreciate the other guy's stuff too. All these cameras today are great; Sony, Fujifilm, Olympus, and Pentax included. They just aren't built for professional wear and tear.
I think the OP was trying to stir the Canikon pot and get a 1DX vs D4S thread going, to no avail.

  Like you I have so much invested in lenses I would be hard pressed to even consider switching manufacturers. Just noticed you have the 1DX, a really fine camera. I wish I could justify the D4S- maybe in another life... ;)
