I just love it when a group of elderly white guys think that any Native American that takes offense at an ethnic slur is overly sensitive. Glad you guys are on the job!

this political correctness has gone way to far ! the name redskins is in no way derogitory it is only a descriptive name such as white man or black man or yellow man !! when someone uses the color for a description it is because that is a way to distinguish that person from another!!! it is not the same as calling someone a nigger or some other name that is derogatory !!!

Well, since the name 'redskin' referred to an Indian's bloody scalp with the hair attached that the white man hung from his belt, and according to some sources, taught the Indian to scalp enemies; and considering the white man did in around a million Indians and called it 'Manifest Destiny', then I would say the Native Americans have a right to not have a white organization use an extremely negative and hateful moniker. jmo

If what you posted is true then the term "redskin" applies to everyone. Indians were scalped, white men were scalped, black men were scalped and so were the Chinese (yellow men) while constructing railroads in the mid to late 1800's. Using your revised account of history the term "redskin" actually refers to all of mankind so why is it that only the Indians are offended by the term.

Your dumbass opinion has absolutely no credence of truth behind it. According to polls of tribes throughout the US, they are proud of the name Redskins and have the name Redsklins attached to the schools. Oklahoma is based on Choctaw Indian words which translate as red people (okla meaning "people" and humma meaning "red"). Guess you low life left-wingers are going to have them change the name of the state. Harry Reid and the rest of the senate Democraps should be scalped just to prove the point of what the petitioned.

Amy, did you personally treat any American Indian Peoples in that deplorable manner? I seriously doubt it.

Did I personally treat the indigenous residents of the new world in this despicable manner? No, I did not.

Is there anyone alive who participated in this horrible treatment of the previous lone inhabitants of this continent? No, they have all gone to either rot in the earth, or to their final justice, depending on your reglious beliefs.

So, asking you, I, and the rest of society, American Culture, and the rest of the surviving humankind for reparations is rather like me accusing your great great great grandfather of frightening my ancestor's milk cow, causing it to go dry. And now expecting you and your prodigy to forever provide me and my prodigy with free milk, and a weekly appology.

Sometime in the great history and future events of the universe, we need to simply say, "Shit, our predecessors were really tough old basters, and didn't treat all people very nicely. Thankfully we do do that any more." And just get on with living a better life. Some things you just can not fix!

By the way, I beleive the American Indians and the Candian First Nations are doing better with the benefits the white devils have introduced than those few remaining South American Indigenous Tribes who had not had the contact with our ancestors. But then I like modern medical wonders, and technologies.

If you still feel the need to seek justice for your ancestor's mistreatment of my ancestor's cow, please PM me. I will gladly set up an account with my local gourmet dairy for you to pay for my daily coffee cream.

UXOEOD, you don't get it. The whole PC thing is about control. The liberals want to control how you think, perceive, talk, act and most of all vote. They want a central government that dictates your every thought and deed, this is just a step in the right direction for them.

The last I heard numerous polls have been regarding present day native Americans views toward the Washington Redskins. Almost all of those surveyed thought it was not offensive. The only people who seem to be offended are Liberals who are entrenched in political correctness for someone else.

As for Harry Reid, who on earth cares whether he goes to a football game or not? His name has been associated with corruption in Nevada for years. With all of the real problems that are affecting America these days, Harry Reid brings up the Washington Redskins issue on the floor of the U.S. Senate. Really??? The Redskins has been the name of a team for many years and now the Federal government decides to get involved as if it doesn't have anything else to do with its time.

What is next? My walls are painted with Navajo White paint. Will I be required to change the name because Navajo Indians aren't usually white in color. OR, now give this a thought, maybe white people will be offended for a change and will complain. Wouldn't that be a kick?

Can we never get away from Political Correct crap that is used to get our leaders away from real problems of the world.

As for Redskins being named for blood dripping from a scalp that is the biggest scam I have ever heard. As I recall Redskins were named because of the color of their skin.

Dennis

Look, let's just call it what it is: a pathetic attempt to gain the Indian vote. There is absolutely no logical or justifiable reason why the United States Senate should stick its nose into the name of a professional football team. It doesn't matter if the name was an obviously racist, defamatory, and derogatory slur (such as the Washington Niggers), it's not the function of either the Legislative or Executive branch to get involved. It also CERTAINLY is no business of a Senator from Nevada.

There are just some things that the congress has a right to get involved with and some things that they have NO right to get involved with. The name of a professional sport team is defiantly one that they have no right or responsibility.

So is redman storage, or redman van lines, or redman chewing tobacco and redman so on and so on and so on all racist? How about the united negro college fund? How about the black panthers? What about the negro league baseball?
Help me understand what is racist and what isn't.
How about the Kansas City Chiefs?
Or the Chieftons?
