http://dslrclub.ru/canon-7d-mark-2-novaya-zarkalnaya-camera-ot-canon/

I have been told by my camera shop that it is coming out and should be released here in Australia around September this year.

I am an Equestrian and event photographer and need a second camera. I would love the Canon 1Dx but of course that is out of the question $$$ wise so the 7D mark 2 is the next best thing i hope.

I would love to hear what everyone else has heard about this camera please... my other option is to purchase another 7D but im hoping the wait will be worth it.

Magic, personally I would get a best price 7d and use it till the ll comes out. Then simply sell the mkl. They are as low as $650us.
I'm sure the 7ll will be a groundbreaking camera, as have been all the newest models. ;-)

Thank you Sharpshooter i Already have a 7D but because of the amount of work i do on every outing around 3500 photos per event on average i Need a second camera- also to safe guard against my camera breaking down. I bought it new well over a year ago

Here (Australia) to buy a new 7D i am looking at around $1000.

If you want the top of the hill sportscar (US label) you buy a Corvette. If you don't want to spend the money you go to the next level and buy a Camaro. All the rest are Chevies ... Top of the line DSLRs ... 1 Dx, next, 5 D MkIII, all the rest are Canons...

Shooting 3500 photos per event doesn't mean you need a second camera. What is the real reason you need the second body, besides insurance?

If my camera brakes down half way through an event.. usually a 9 or 10 hour shoot then I am in trouble. Besides that as cameras are only good for around 100 000 shots and mine is well used I would be unprepared and unprofessional if I did not have a back up. I generally have between 1 and 3 shoots each week.
I also need a camera with better ISO capabilities for indoor horse events.

I believe the shutter life for the 7D is 150,000. Different cameras have different ratings.

While it may not be in your budget, anything except the 5D Mark III would be a compromise. If the 7D Mark II is about US$2000, it's more than half the cost of the 5D Mark III at US$3500. I think the 5D Mark III will stay 1-2 stops of high ISO performance ahead of the 7D Mark II.

If you are being paid for these shoots, then it is a business decision to decide how much you can spend on a new camera. If you are taking this many pictures and cannot justify a 5D Mark III, something else in the business model might need to change (like the number of shots and hours?). If you are not being paid, then "unprofessional" is less relevant, especially if the events are happening 1-3 times a week.

Thank you Amehta you are right.... I forgot to mention I hired a 5th 111 for a day it's an awesome camera but I'm afraid I need the faster shudder speed of at least 8fpm horses move very fast and to catch the right shot sometimes you need faster.

Yes my photos are sold and it makes me enough money to do this full time. I am also paid for private shoots as well.
Thank you for your feedback it's very valuable.

While I understand that horses move fast, does 8fps vs 6fps really make a difference? Horses move fast, but predictably. It seems that you know what you're doing enough to trust your judgement more than luck that the "right shot" happens during one of those shots.

Amehta i hear what you are saying yes but I did hire a 5 D mark iii hoping that that would be the case but i found that i still need the faster shudder speed and once i purchase a camera with 6 fps then i can not change that.
Thank you i do appreciate your feedback

You want more than 6 f/s, the 1 Dx goes all day long shooting 12f/s. You are faced with a dilemma, either pony up the cost or learn to live within your budget. This is a matter of fact in the life of a photographer. If you demand performance you must play the price. BTB, this camera still turns heads of pros when it goes into it's "machine gun" mode. It is even capable of shooting @ 14 f/s with some sacrifice.

I accept that you are the norm and I am the outlier with action photography, but I think when the photographer knows the sport, single shot can be more effective. Like I said, that's just me. :-)
