Going to LA May 6 - 9, and will be staying in the North Glendale area. Any suggestions on things to shoot? Anyone available in the area to meet and shoot? Full days shooting May 7 and 8. Feel free to contact me on PM. Will have own transportation.

In Glendale, the Brand Library and grounds. Take a trip to Long Beach, see the USS Iowa. Drive north on PCH to Oxnard, enjoy the ocean.

Moffie, I suggest you go down and just lean against the signpost at Hollywood & Vine for two days, and just let it all come to you!!

Lukan, funny you should mention that. I used to hang out there quite a bit when I was a teenager.
Less than 6 mos. ago I was up on twin peaks shooting, "the curve". When you drive straight back down the front side, you drive straight thru HA. It's not the place it used to be. It's actually getting a little trendy and the girls are all gone!! :(

Last time I was there, I could've sworn I smelled patchouli with a little reefer sorta just hanging in the air, while I was California dreamin' on such a winter's day. Maybe it was the purple haze all in my brain... But I was looking for the girls too, and they weren't there. They've all move south to LA...

I LOVE your neck of the woods, Sharpie. It's great there, and although I love Chicago, I do think you're a very lucky guy to have made your life there. Salute! :-D

At this intersection, you need a fast and stealthy street shooter. You won't want to miss a thing. You'll see everything there! SS is right, in short order it will all come to you.

You guys are a kick! Thanks for the suggestions! I'm a little apprehensive since I will be shooting alone. No crazy people around anywhere.

They won't hurt you at either place, and the images should be fun to take! :-D 8-)

There are tons of places to shoot in LA! The Griffith park Observatory. The kodak theatre. Olvera Street. Grand Central station. Beverly Hills has the Graystone Mansion. Old town Pasadena is beautiful, as is the Huntingron library ( get tickets online) in Pasqdena area. The LA. Arboretum is gorgeous. Can't go wrong with any of our beaches, the Santa Monica pier. The Getty museums ( need a parking reservation online but the museums are free. Exposition park has the space ahuttle. LA County Art museum ( LACMA)-- closed on Wednesday. If you want so winter wasting portraits can't go wrong with Hollywood. Downtown LA the financial District has gorgeous architecture. USC and UCLA are beautiful campuses. We have it all!

You didn't say what kind of subject matter you like. i.e. wildlife, architecture, landscapes, street people, graffiti, and the like.

I know, I live here. But I'm not going to suggest anything until I know what he wants.
