I m not a Canon guy, and even I know that is not enough information.

The lens must have a type, or year of manufacture, or more than "Canon."

no. they changed their lens mounts for dslr's. there are adaptors available but that puts more glass between your sensor and the light. Im a Nikon guy so i don't know if you lose af or ttl metering with the adaptors or not. Im sure a cannonite will answer.

Cannon changed the bayonet mounting pattern several years back, so compatibility is dependent on age of your lens.

If the mounting is compatible, you will notice a "cropping" effect on a Cannon APC format camera. The cropping factor is 1.6x, which means a 100-mm lens will capture images like a 160-mm lens on a 35-mm film camera.

I agree, depends on the model of the Canon lens.
the "FD" Canon lens require an adapter and will operate as manual only.
Need more info...

No, they did not change it for DSLRs. The change came when they came out with the EOS cameras. Electronic Operating System.
There were EOS film units well before digital.

Nikon figured out how to do it and keep the F mount.

If the lens is pre-EOS, it won't fit. I suppose there are adapters, but why bother?

Again, Sinatraman is wrong on the SAME question ... The new DSLR's use the EF(s) mount for lens, which is the SAME mount Canon has used for over 20 years !
I still have my Canon 620 and 650 which use an EF lens mount... Those 20 + year lens ALSO fit my much newer Canon Rebels... No problem what-so-ever.........

I have 2 EF-S lenses from the Canon Rebel 35mm that I had and now use on my Canon Rebel digital with no problem. I'd say yes - your Canon lenses are interchangeable.
