My first Soft Box

Due to frequent request for portraits I finally bought my first soft Box. A photographer here is going a new direction in her life and is selling her stuff. I purchased a Dynaphos 24"X30" softbox. She also included stands and lots of lights.

Now I have to learn how to use it. Does anybody know of a good web site with tutorials? I use a Canon 7D.

Thanks for all your help.

Do a google search for soft box tutorials and you'll find a bunch of videos that you can watch for free. I haven't checked but Adorama has a lot of teaching videos and they may have one on lighting but as I said I haven't looked.

Yes, as Pepper says, look at Adorama. Mostly any use of strobes is all the same, with or without a box.
But also google uTubes, and be specific, you should get tons of stuff.
If possible, take a portrait class at a local JC, that would be the best. Portraits are pretty easy, once you get a few basics down. If you have a mall nearby with a cookie-cutter portrait studio, go look at it. That will be worth a 1000 words. Good luck. ;-)

There is a good book called "Light it, Shoot it, (something else" it) can't remember the last part. They should have it in the library, I believe it is a Kelby book. Lots of good information in there. When I moved "up" from my Speedotron Brown 404 to monolights where I could adjust the power of the lights, I borrowd the book from my library. It was interesting. One thing, however, light is still light, so there wasn't a whole lot "New" in there, but I read it anyway, as I'm a bit of an information junky.

If you can pick up a copy of Zack Arias' One Light DVD it is worth its weight in gold. I heard it's not available on the One Light website anymore, but copies are occasionally available out on various forums (similar to this one, where they have a buy/sell section).

Darn it's gone the way of the DoDo bird. Maybe he'll come out with another. But thanks anyway.
