Thanks Tilde~ I had never though of converting to b&w but I needed an additional b&w photo...so I just started punching photos and came up with this one. Try it Tilde...it's fun!

Yeah, well... would ya look at this!?
Told ya... sucks! LMAO

Some people just have a knack for specific things... black and white just doesn't seem to be mine.

Yours is really wonderful. Congrats again :)

Don't knock yourself that hard. Your B & W aint' bad.

A tad out of focus, but all you have to do is sharpen and adjust the contrast. Play with it! And NO...it doesn't "suck." <giggle>

Beautiful! Looks like a charcoal drawing ~ nicely done! What did you do to get this result?

Thank you. Starting with a clear image, I used PhotoShop to convert it to b/w by removing the color then ever so gently enhancing the contrast. That was it.

That is exactly how I do black and white when I am not shooting BW film.
Excellent use of photoshop

I FOUND IT!!! The b/w rose was taken with F/4, ISO-121, exposure time 1/80 sec

I tried again with a different rose photo. I don't know... doesn't do much for me either... and to make matters worse, I dunno how I managed it, but my original... which I DID like very much... got saved as this b&w version.

So the original... it went *POOF!*... into the ether and I'll never see it again. *sniff sniff*

This is my last attempt... well... for a while anyway.
I'd do better to sit back and watch for a while longer... :)

tilde....I think your conversion brings out the petals texture nicely....just needs more contrast of darks and lights....as in the original posters shot.

( oops ...your picture changed before I could add my post ...ha ha )

OH NO!!! You lost the original? Dang! Ok...so now you need to go out and shoot some more roses. <grins> But I must say, I DO like this one a LOT better, it's a sharper image. Just a little cropping and resolution adjustment will do it. Thanks for sharing.

I'm very much like you...taking photos for my own enjoyment and having fun experimenting. But when you DO get the "good ones" it's time to share 'em. (The DELETE button has become my new BFF...giggle.)
