I shot this today and used a pro-contrast adjustment in elements/nik color efex pro. Not sure if that was the correct adjustment. Maybe I should have left it alone but the sky was fairly washed out so I tried to recover some of it. Any other suggestions will be appreciated.

This has been a very interesting thread, yet there was something that still didn't gel with me on this image. Then it hit me. This image, in the manner taken, really presents two conflicting subjects.

WOW!!! What a fantastic job, I love it even better than the original. These are real standouts and I love it without the original color.
I turned the single image into two separate images. Also, my feeling was that there would be greater impact by doing them as tinted B&W. I dumped the color, then converted back to RGB. Added a warm filter, played with contrast a bit, and then added one of my many edge filters. Increased the canvas size to give the images a better balance.

Two for the price of one! I just felt that the two big wagon wheels just made the viewer's eyes bounce back and forth way too much. A different treatment for sure; but, to my eye I like them.

Kathy,

Thank you for your comments. Sometimes when I see everyone else "turning right", I tend to stand back and take a look at making a "left turn". Sometimes it works.

In this case, my real focus was the two conflicting subjects that needed to be broken into two separate images. The rest just sort of fell into place.

I noticed you are an artist. I painted in oils for many, many years so I wasn't surprised you came up with the changes. Somehow we artists tend to look at things a bit differently than regular photographers. Have you noticed that also?
