I shot this today and used a pro-contrast adjustment in elements/nik color efex pro. Not sure if that was the correct adjustment. Maybe I should have left it alone but the sky was fairly washed out so I tried to recover some of it. Any other suggestions will be appreciated.

Overall pic looks dark to me, also consider doing adjustments selectively, many times the whole picture does not need the effect

sky still looks a little weird

If you only knew the history of that wagon, where it was built, and the age of it. Great picture.

Don't know how this compares to yours and others.
Bryan Peterson, in Understanding Exposure, claims he always, except for certain circumstances, shoots with white balance set to cloudy because he likes warmer tones. So, I edited your photo & set the white balance closer to cloudy, darkened the shadows, and tweaked the sharpness a tad. Any better?

I do like it but am still getting a blown out sky. I will have to work on that again. Thank you.

I don't think the sky is distracting at all. The focus point being the wagon brings the eye to the subject. I think the original is just fine.

The rules clearly state that you are not to download another's photography, edit and re-post it without their given permission. Shame on you!!!

Sorry. Just anxious to help.
DeanerNiker, I added another touch to my original edit. I ran it through ReDynamix HDR in PSE 10. With your permission, may I post?

I think that when you lightened it up to show more detail in the wagon itself that improved it...but the sky really is blown out....possibly replace the sky or just paint a lower exposure on it specifically?

Thank you, I will try to lower the exposure on the sky later today. Super busy at the moment.
