I want to purchase a good all around travel camera

I have a Canon EOS 40 D with some outstanding lenses but want to find
a travel camera that has most of the following assets:

An optical viewfinder
A decent optical zoom with some kind of stabilizer for the zoom
A very good sensor
A camera that does great in low light photography
A camera that shoots in RAW A camera without interchangeable lenses since it would be a travel camera A camera that isn`t bulky. I use CS-5 Adobe Shop for MAC.

A couple of months ago, I found a Leica that did some of the above but am just looking at different ideas. I do like Leica`s scene modes that I
used on my son`s My camera takes incredible clear shots. I realize I
won`t be able to get as good of shots as my existing camera.

I`m also looking at a smaller camera because of some major shoulder issues that has prevented me from taking photos like I normally would.

I realize you have to give up something to get something else but am
just wondering if you had any ideas for me?

I also found a Nikon P 7800 yesterday that looks like it will do most of what I am looking for. Does anybody have any ideas or suggestions for me?

The Canon GX1 fits the bill. Excellent low light performance. Oversized sensor. Great IS. Skip the newest edition. NO viewfinder.
I really like mine. If you want more zoom range, check into the G15 or G16. [Smaller sensors.]

Thanks very much for your comment! I will check out your recommendations. I love a viewfinder because I`m just used to it. I could probably do without it if I needed to.

Thanks very much for your suggestion. I also got some feedback about checking out the Canon GX 1 , G 15, and G 16.

I really appreciate your response.

I have a nikon D300, and just got a canon G15 for a everywhere-all-the-time camera and was blown away by the tremendous capability of the G15.

Check out the SX50. It is amazing the pictures you can get from that little cheap camera. I am still trying to get brave enough to sell my 5D Mark II and the pro lens as I lean toward the SX because of the weight and quality of pictures. Bee

I second the suggestion of the Canon G1 X.

I'm basically a Sony user, but couldn't find a travel camera that fit my requirements (pretty much the same as the OP's) AND my budget in the Sony line. Got my G1 X used (you'd never know it) from KEH.

I recently purchased a Sony RX10. Very pricey ($1,298 at Amazon). I am trying to sell some of my equipment that I don't use. My initial observation is that this camera is fantastic. You can't fit it in your pocket, but it is a lot lighter than a DSLR. It does have a 20MP sensor and ISO goes down to 80. Take a look at DP Review. Good luck.

I goofed. It is a G1 X. Not a GX1. I need to use it more. I did use it a little yesterday.

You could even go as far back as the G-12. You might still be able to pick up one of those on the cheap from a dealer whose trying to unload the last of a model from so far back. It's my "I can't bring a DSLR" camera.
