Is there a diopter available for Canon 5dm3 or 7d that works best with prescription eye glasses. I'm not having a disaster, just curious that I could be doing more for my images.

I'm a Nikon guy but why not check with Canon customer service? I'm sure they can give you the best info.

Mike Browne on http://www.photographycourses.biz has a video on how to adjust a diopter, in which he states you should adjust it to your eye without your glasses on, and says you should shoot without your glasses on. This is something I have begun because I always felt my glasses got in the way of being able to see to all corners of the viewfinder. The downside though, is what to do with my glasses while looking through it. I think I need a cord or something to let them hang around my neck.

I used to take my glasses off and simply put one of the earpieces between my teeth.
Later on I started to keep my glasses on, and have been doing so for many years now.
Lately I've been keeping the camera on Auto focus, as I had issues with seeing a sharp image in the viewfinder.
Changes coming, the diagnosis is cataracts and surgery recommended within the next two years. Ugh!

If you're myopic (Near-sighted) like me, this is a BAD idea - your composition will go drastically downhill. Here's a tip - pull up a menu in the viewfinder, and adjust the diopter to sharpen the text - MUCH easier than using an image! (At least on my Canon bridge)

You can have it replaced by Canon if your eyes can't be corrected to 20/20. If you see 20/20 with glasses then you won't need to have a custom diopter installed.

how exactly will this affect composition? I haven't had any problems yet using this method. I could understand maybe it affecting focus if not properly adjusted but how would it affect composition? I can see the corners of the viewfinder better without my glasses, so in my opinion it has improved composition.

Sorry to hear that morning star, but if it's any consolation, folks I know that have had the surgery say it's great afterward. The cataracts come on so slowly over time that it's hard to know how much it has affected the eyesight. They are amazed at how brilliant the colors are afterward.

Seeing what there is in the world to put IN the viewfinder . . . with a blurry world, you miss a lot. That's the whole point of a diopter; so you can go from the view to your viewfinder . ..

I watched Mike's video on adjusting the diopter. I wear contact lenses for distance and reading glasses for close up. According to what he said in the video I should not wear my contacts when adjusting the diopter, nor wear my reading glasses when taking shots, right?

I don't recall any mention of contacts in the video. I'd have to go back and watch it again.
