I like what you did with the depth of field on the B & W in number one. Nice job.

I love your subject in 1 and 2. I would like to see the black and white cropped like you did with the color version, and add a little more contrast. It's a great shot, keep posting :)

An honest accident I assure you. I was just wanting to get some shots in focus. Thank you.

Forgot the contrast. Is this better?

I agree with you. I was trying to catch the ball on the way to the second baseman. Is this better?

I like the first photo. The only problem that I see with this is that there is too much on the top half of the photo that does nothing to tell your story. I would have composed the shot to have more of the players and less above their heads. In the third shot I don't know where to go. Is the action with the umpire? Is it with the players? I keep searching from one to the other. This is distracting. We know that there is an umpire watching over the game, so he is not really necessary. Focus on the players. I don't mean to be critical and I think the black and white in the first shot is really a good idea. You are seeing things while shooting that translate well into a single image. This is important. Now you need to fine tune. I definitely did not look at your photos and think to myself: "This guy needs to take up knitting!" I can't wait to see what you come up with next. Good shooting.

Great improvement to crop the top, especially because of the bright white sections. This is an interesting and fun image. A little more tweak to bring out their faces (lighter), but perhaps not needed.

Good job!

I love this crop and the composition that came out of it! It might be possible to blur the distractions beyond the fence a bit, but the action you caught here is really neat

Thank you. I was in a bit of a panic and really had no idea of what to shoot. I picked the only spot where I didn't have a fence in front of me. I'm brand new to dslr and never shot in public. The boys helping the opposing team member seemed like a good idea. I appreciate the feedback. I will attempt to improve.

there is no question that you will improve very quickly. You have the interest and you have a good conception of composition (first shot with the boys). That is the part that is hard to teach. The rest is just technical stuff that can be learned. Enjoy your DSLR I'm certain there will be fantastic shots in your near future. Welcome to the forum.

I think it is a great story photo. I love the black and white. How often do you see something like this?

Thank you. I find that I am looking at people, places and things more to try and find something interesting. I look more than I shoot.

You did just fine! The crop made a masterpiece from your photo of the kids, and I loved the action you caught with your last shot. I think cropping that one is a mistake, tho. The ump running to make the call adds to the action in the scene, not distracts. I'd leave him in.

Great start, and keep it up!

Thanks for the feedback. It's hard for me to determine what makes a good shot due to my utter lack of experience.
