Does anyone carry a concealed weapon with them on photo shoots when they feel uncomfortable in the surroundings. If so, what type of weapon and permit do you have. Thanks for responding.
I would not comment on this subject except to say I nether confirm nor deny.

I do and it's a simple permit to carry issued by the state. I only carry when I'm in the wild as I was once chased back to my car by a Racoon which was odd for two reasons. One they are typically very docile creatures and two you just don't see them out and about in the early afternoon.

You are F*cken lucky you were not bitten. Typically raccoons are nocturnal. That one was probably rabid if it was out and about during the day and acting that aggressively
Had concealed carry permits from New Hampshire and Maine. Remote areas for boating and fishing. Mainly small animal protection or personal protection. Sterling Model 400 semi-automatic.

I was lucky, I didn't even notice the thing until it hunched up and started hissing at me. I was by the river and picked up a handful of rocks, pitched them at it and took off. I must confess I made pretty good time for an old fart :-D
Yes, concealed handgun permit. Beretta 92sf compact.

Your lucky there was not a whole pack of them. You could have been completely devoured in a NY minute, just like by a herd of hungry piranhas!
It's too bad you weren't wearing a GoPro. That would have made America's funniest home videos for sure, the raccoon is probably still laughing!!

Be sure to practice and be proficient with the gun you choose. You should be as capable with it as you are your camera, for you own safety and others.

Absolutely I do -- have permit that allows concealed or open carry. My preference is always concealed.
The last time I renewed my concealed handgun license (C.H.L.), seven of us were in the class and three of us were carrying Glock 19's, 9mm. They are very reliable but they don't have safety trigger locks on them. Smith&Wesson, Sig Saur all make good ones.
You will find out concealing in the summer time and its hot outside is a problem. I purchased my last camera bag with that in mind.

I've wanted to carry when out in the wilds, but haven't found a way to pack a gun with my checked baggage on flights and count on it still being in my bag when I reach my destination.
Anyone have input on taking a gun cross country by plane?
I have an AR-15 that looks like my tripod. Very effective!
