What ever happened to good old capitalism? If you don't like something you don't support it, let your money do the talking. If you want to live in a socialist country where the government tells you what to do than just move!

Socialist country? Hmm, actually, the way things are going, you won't have to move. Just stick around and see it happen here

The school team names should be addressed also How would you like to have gone to a high school where the team was the Trojans?

My kids did and no one tried to change it.

Well, in the Native American case, if I were a surviving member of a nation which was almost entirely wiped out from this land, I guess I would likely be insulted also. It would seem that they didn't think enough of us to make peace until the vast majority of us were dead and the others confined to reservations on the sorriest land in the country. Then the govt. allowed each religious faction to divide up the reservations and 'teach' the new religion-or in a lot of cases, if the teaching didn't take, they just beat the 'paganism' out of the child. And they also disallowed any speaking of the 'heathen' tongue.

I really have no opinion pro or con.... but it seems to me that anytime I have seen an interview with a person who might be affected by a name that can or can not be associated with a native american, they seem to not be bothered about it.... for instance the Seminole Football team in Florida... those of that tribe like the name...

Way to often, our "Doo Doo Gooders" are a whole lot more interested in their "Press" than they really are in what they supposedly fighting for....

Until one is on the receiving end of an issue, it is hard to appreciate the feelings of those who are. But we can try, can we not?
Well, in the Native American case, if I were a sur... (show quote)

Another case of where the "few" offended dictate policy for the rest of us.

Anyone born in America is a Native American in my opinion.

Gitzo - a great post. Too bad most of the people who read it already feel he same way. (Or do they?) Maybe I should copy and email to some of my liberal friends. I have noticed we must be careful when posting messages written with "tongue in cheek" where sarcasm is intended in order to put down some idea we disagree with or find ridiculous. Some may not realize that is what we are doing.

A few years ago, there was a group who thought the Washington Bullets name was too violent, so it was suggested they change the name to the " Bullets"

boy... you got a lot of blood pressure up by quoting someone's tongue-in-cheek comments on an internet article.

if that's your goal, congrats!

Remember the Lib that said peanut butter and jelly sandwiches were
RACIST?

Libs have a penchant for finding and making the most ridiculous, annoying statements about things.

Watch them pick on the "White Sox" and how dare snow be white!

You think they'd worry about something important for a change.
