Not practical. It might be fine for special cirumstances and studio work. I have the Camranger which uploads to my ipad and iphone but in the field, it does not make sense.

I tend to agree with this. I've used it with my tablet indoors, but out in the field, it doesn't seem practical. I do like the GPS feature though, but I need to carry extra batteries for this.

Most of the proposed uses by the camera makers I would never use. However Canon has one application on some of the models like the 6D which allows you to remotely operate the camera thru an i-phone and see what is in the view finder and trip the camera. I think this is a pretty neat feature that I will try.

My preference, is no. That is because my works take me outside, away from studio spaces and I dont really bring a laptop with me. My gear set up is made to be light and portable, which means leaving a laptop at home or in the hotel when I travel. I only once used the feature just to ensure it worked as advertised.

Cam I have used the iPhone app as a remote shutter switch quite a bit with my 6d and think it is very useful which is why third party manufacturers are making add on wifi devices for the dslr' that don't have this feature. I like it and my wife likes it on her sx280 p&s for transferring to her iPad.

Saved me the price of the canon remote trigger, already had the phone
