Thanks, I guess I didn't overdo the saturation. I am very new to using DSLR cameras.

I like the first one better. That is only because I am familiar with the species and shot some images of them just recently. The oversaturated one is interesting to look at, but I prefer natural history shots to reflect the real subject. They are both lovely images though.

Bit of advice, don't eat wild mushrooms. Not a great idea.

Thank you so much for your comments; and I buy my mushrooms at the local food stores. :)

One of my cousins got very very ill from eating a mushroom he shouldn't have. He swore that he knew what he was doing when he went out collecting but his overconfidence almost killed him.

I would leave the mushroom gathering to the real experts and get what I want/need from a grocer.

I have similar fungi growing off the roots of one of my trees. I had the tree checked out and it's okay. Seems the cable company cut the root when they were laying some fiber optic cables.

My wife ran over some of the mushroom tops with the lawn mower. After a couple days it smelled like there was roadkill in the back yard. Yuck!

Yes, the grocery store is where I get my mushrooms, better safe than sorry. :-P

These mushrooms appeared on the stump of a tree which was cut down. Can anyone identify them? The first picture is out of the camera; in the second one the color was saturated, Did I overdo it?

Very pretty. Wonder if they are the eating kind?? Or poison kind?? which ever love the photos

Thank you for looking, and for your nice comment. I was just checking ''Edible Mushrooms in California". It seems they might be edible, but I need a lot more research before I would feel ready to try them. Meanwhile the grocery store is the place where I will pick them.

Interesting shot. Your post-processing is very well done, too. A definite improvement. Can't help with the mushrooms, sorry.

some time ago down at the museum at Coyote Point in San Mateo there was a class on collecting and identifying mushrooms. I missed it but would love to attend something like that
