I think that this is a pretty good picture, but I'm not much of a critic. I took pictures at the Fantasy of Trees in Knoxville, Tn. at Christmas time. I got some nice shots of some beautiful Christmas trees; but, don't make the mistake I made by printing copies to save a few bucks. I just used a LOT of colored ink. Color that could have been used for something more important. Either have somebody make the cards for you like Shutterfly, or some other company, or you can go to someplace like Walmart to print your pictures. Then you can make your own cards with card stock paper, attaching the photo with sticky tape or for better results, corner tabs made especially for photographs.I used what I had, but it was not my best work like I have done in the past.
Will make a beautiful Christmas card.

I'm not trying 2 be rude, I think it's a pretty picture - it just looks a lil out of focus, like the feathers look more clear than his face? It is pretty though ;)
It could be my eyes too.....
I see it, too, but only after you mentioned it. However, it is a gorgeous picture and truly has the 'wow' factor!
Really awesome! I love the contrasts and the colors! Pretty!

Happy Holidays Everyone.
It is a beautiful picture! Be sure and sign it so everyone will know that it is one of yours. Newer Walgreens drug store photo lab (?) has pretty accurate color and the kiosk options will allow you to sign it however and where ever you like. Go of job. Nice to know you have your cards for next year.

Hello, I feel this is a Great Photo, You could actually use this for any occasion, a blank card, with you doing some special writing, would make it more personal. Maybe, with a title, like Photo taken by------.
Ltruex, thanks for info. I do have a tripod but have not used it yet. I will get it set up and give this a try. Thank you for your help.
Always happy to be of help...As you advance, and a hint ;-) look into tethering if your camera can remote live view, for it permits the animal to act more natural, but the down side means they are not looking into the lens as to watch you. The real advantage of tether is viewing nesting birds, or other wild critters, and where you don't want your presents felt. L3

It looks a lot like the DOWNY WOODPECKER, but I don't see any red on the back of it's head.
wouldn't mind being on your christmas card list. that is beautiful..and home made cards!!..wow
The berries really add to this photo. Nice!
My vote is on a female Downy Woodpecker, for the male would likely be the one with color and not the female...it is so in most birds the male is colorful and the female not. I don't know if this holds true to all, and in hawks the males are a third the size of the female... L3
