Looking to move from my Fujifilm S2900 to the Nikon D3100. Looks to have what I am looking for. Keep in mind I am doing this on a very limited budget, zero, looking to get on SSID, but???. But I know to get to the next level I have to take that next step. And I would like to start getting paid for my work.
Pro's / con's ???

You can get a good deal on a refurb or a used one on ebay. If you bid on one on ebay, get a shutter count first.
I just bought the nikon d3100, I got a good deal at best buy!
For a budget a new copy of the D3100 is an excellent camera at a discounted price vs other new cameras. If bidding on used cameras, I'd look at something more advanced if my budget would allow.
This is a new camera that I am looking at on ebay. A complete set up for $469. Bag, lens, tripod,
D3100 is a great starter camera. The guide mode will really help you understand DSLR photography. Plus, it takes nice shots. It's what I started with at the recommendations of others and will suit you well.
Nikon has some refurbished kits starting at $369. Here's the link. I'd also check B&H Camera and Cameta Camera in N.Y. Both reputable sellers. Best of Luck.

Sometimes those kits throw in things that are not the best quality, jut to make it look like you're getting a lot. Have you priced a new camera with just the 18-55mm? There are many pages of D3100s on ebay. Shop carefully.
EDIT: This would be like new for a lots less money.

If you can spend $469 on the D3100 with extras that aren't that great, add $30 and get the D3200 with 18-55mm lens. Best Buy's been selling the D3200 kit for $499 lately. You mentioned you'd like to get paid for your work, and the 24 mega pixel sensor on the D3200 (compared to the 14 mega pixel sensor on the D3100) will let you capture more detail, create larger prints, which I think would be a major advantage in selling your work.
Thanks. I was in Topeka today and stopped in at the camera, video store and picked up the D3100 for $429. And they took my Fujifilm in on trade, not much but if I was to try to sell it on ebay I would have came out about the same. Now time to get to know this one.
Thanks again for the advice.

It's good to buy from a store where you can return with questions. Enjoy it!
They all so have class' from basic photo to photoshop, light modifiers. I am going to take them up on all the fee stuff and then some. That way when the next big indoor car show rolls around I will be ready.
And once again thanks to everyone for your input and knowledge.
