I'd say Lauren has a very good eye. Advise: Keep shooting and the eye gets better.

I think you're right. I'll be glad to share your comment. Thanks.

I like the fifth shot the best. I like all the lines, even when they usually detract...these don't seem to...to me. All the lines are level. And the mountains even further...they just all come together in this photo and it is pleasing to my eye. I just can't help being envious of all you folks who have such wonderful birds to practice with. The cardinal who comes to my feeder is very camera shy and does not accept bribery! :)

I thought about cloning the lines out for her, but decided to leave them. Horizontal lines can be very soothing...sometimes.

I was going to suggest glue on your branches, but that's just wrong. :-D

Lauren, the fallen leaf is a very lovely image. Really nice contrast between the brown texture and the pebbled ground. I like the water patterns in #2 and the bird's long wingspan. Great job!

Thanks Linda. I'll be sure she gets your message.

I like the simplicity of the first shot, and altho the exposure isn't quite correct, I really like the ducks and geese under the trees. A very appealing shot.

I set the camera on "auto" for her rather than trying to give her a detailed explanation of settings (I'm not sure I could). Could I have edited it to correct the light....probably. Like you, I kind of liked the color contrasts - warm leaves vs. cool shadows. Maybe Lauren will like trying to do her own edit at some point.

Thanks Randy.

You are being too modest, Vicki. You've got some terrific photos and seem to be on a roll to make even more.

You are very kind. I feel like a neophyte compared with everyone else, but the learning curve doesn't seem as steep as it did a couple of months ago. I've learned a lot!!!

My eleven year-old granddaughter took the following shots this afternoon when we went to a pond near her house. We left this location and went to another spot where I've been seeing lots of wading birds and got some shots there, too.

These were shot with an 18-200mm Tamron lens on a Pentax K-7 body.

I did some minimal editing to level horizons, crop, and sharpen.

I'm sure she would appreciate comments and advice.

I LOVE the leaf and would not change a thing with it. :-)))

There was a lot of space around it. I took the liberty of cropping it for her.

Thanks Phil. Maybe we should work on getting her photos entered in the county fair. There's lots of time to prepare.
