My eleven year-old granddaughter took the following shots this afternoon when we went to a pond near her house. We left this location and went to another spot where I've been seeing lots of wading birds and got some shots there, too.
These were shot with an 18-200mm Tamron lens on a Pentax K-7 body.
I did some minimal editing to level horizons, crop, and sharpen.
I'm sure she would appreciate comments and advice.
Excepting for #3 which is heavily in shadow, I'd say she's a great beginning into the realm of photography. #1 is just classic.

For Lauren...Thank you. I'll tell her.
She's good, Vicki! My grandaugher is 11, too! She's into art right now...in fact, she designing our Christmas cards!
Very nice early efforts. I think she is lucky to have you there to encourage her to keep shooting, to keep looking at images to analyze them, and to soak up some good tips from her Grandmother.

It takes a photographer to see beauty in a fallen leaf or to get the full reflection of a bird in water...she is well on the way to being top drawer.

What a great eye and great shots...good for her...(lucky she has such a talented teacher!!)
I'd say Lauren has a very good eye. Advise: Keep shooting and the eye gets better.
I like the fifth shot the best. I like all the lines, even when they usually detract...these don't seem to...to me. All the lines are level. And the mountains even further...they just all come together in this photo and it is pleasing to my eye. I just can't help being envious of all you folks who have such wonderful birds to practice with. The cardinal who comes to my feeder is very camera shy and does not accept bribery! :)
Lauren, the fallen leaf is a very lovely image. Really nice contrast between the brown texture and the pebbled ground. I like the water patterns in #2 and the bird's long wingspan. Great job!
I like the simplicity of the first shot, and altho the exposure isn't quite correct, I really like the ducks and geese under the trees. A very appealing shot.

You'll have to post a photo of your card when she gets it finished. I would love to see it and think it's a great idea.
For Lauren, thank you.

It's a fun way to spend time. I bet she could master pp easier and faster than I can.
