Here's a challenge for you . . . take your best guess at the lighting set-up used in this image. CC is also fine.

The light came from the left side, using a reflector.

This belongs on your wall

One light came at 45 degrees from the left, another was sent to the background, another came from top right down(rim on the hat).

is this image a composite, as in you replaced the background?

Yes . . . it was taken against a very light background . . . background removed with Topaz ReMask 3 . . and replaced with a digital background. But the lighting set-up?

a softbox pointed directly at the man's right shoulder, and a window on his left side.

One main light with umbrella or window light to the left of the subject and slightly forward of him for the wrapped in light effect, fill light to the right maybe one stop less than the main light and slightly behind and a little above the subject and a light behind and down low aimed in an upward angle exposing the back round in a graduated manner. Regardless of my guess it's a very nice portrait.

Good guess . . but not the right one. I am finding it interesting how many members have learned to read the light in an image. Good job!

Thanks, glad you like it.
Not the right answer, but I'll give you a hint. It's much simpler than it looks and there is no background light as the background has been replaced with a digital background.

OK, let me try one more time.

I'm going to stick with the reflector on the camera's left side and put a soft box on the camera's right side.

How's that?

Window to the left, there is something to the right giving a purple color cast, his hair under his hat has a purple tint to it as does the brim of his hat and the arm of his glasses.
