Tracey - very nice monochrome. Just curious, when you shoot IR, and have not set your camera to mono, what color are your images?
David
They are similar to a sepia....brownish. I haven't learned adding color yet.
I sent in my old cannon rebel to be converted to infrared a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, I haven't had time to really learn much since!
I would suggest two options, both very cost effective:
(1) Go up on the Internet and google Smart Photo Editor. It only costs $30 to download, and it is amazing what it will do to your IR photos. But be sure and turn off the monochrome and get those sepia earth tones coming out of your camera first, and
(2) If you have an iPad, go to the App Store and download SnapSeed. It is free and it will do wonders with your IR photos.
Shoot more - Work less!

Here is my base image after a little tuning in SnapSeed on my iPad. SnapSeed is a free app and it is really easy and dramatic in what it can do.
I like to shoot using the Eye Fi SD chip directly to my iPhone or iPad (Can't do both at once, it won't save to either), then edit on the fly in SnapSeed.
Nice image David. I looked at the website and went over setting the white balance. It's raining so hard today that I will not take the camera out of doors.

It's nice to see you back. I am partial to the second image. David is right SME is the easiest program to use to change colors and the price is right. Good Luck!

Here are some sunsets from a couple of nights ago that have been colored in SME.

Hope the Sun is shining on the Grass when you take the Custom WB - none up here though
NOW we will see what the Canon can do with the 650nm Conversion eh what???
Larry
Boy that Polaroid Filter is really taking off for you - what did you use in Simplify 4 - I can NOT get it to really produce for me
Cheers for years
Colin
Sorry I missed your question about simplify 4; however, I will answer it as usual--I don't remember. Several of the images had multiple edits on them. It is something that one has to work at awhile. It has great edits if you want to simulate painted images.
I tried setting white balance using grass without much luck. Of course I was dodging showers and still need some more work on it. Here are a couple of quick edits in Simplicity 4.

Love them Larry
If NO sun or showers etc - you can always try white Balance outside with White Computer Paper - that works too
Cheers for years
Colin
Welcome Back Tracey
Looking forward to your images in color
Although love the Peace you Captured with the Bridge & Lake in the Monochrome
Cheers for years

Yes, but I need to go outside to take the final pictures. I was trying through the window with little success. Thanks for the compliments.

Larry, you never cease to amaze me with your color renditions. I have taken several images with my backup 60D, then shot the same scene with the IR converted T2i, ran them through identical sets in SPE, and the contrast difference in the IR based images is startling. This is fun.
It begs the question, why do not more people get into IR photography? The cost maybe?
Thanks for all the help, folks, and I am eager to see Tracey's images. Her monochromes were very nice.

Thank you for the compliments on my colored images. I am not sure why more don't get involved in IR. There are a number of people who responded to your thread a couple of months ago. Eric wrote PR's to each of them inviting them to the thread. I think it is the time involved in working out the image. I think many of the UHH members are content to post out of the camera images and stand on their purest beliefs. Many don't want to play with abstracts but I find it fun. It has taken time but we have a dozen members or more actively posting and are up to 2000 pages. Both of these threads require some extra effort but we have fun doing it.

Thanks Larry! As I said I do have it, I just haven't played around with it yet.
