I've always considered .NET Framework more of a "Necessary Evil" because , for a while at least, I kept finding I needed an up-to-date version of .NET for one new software package, but another piece of software needed the older version and would not work with the newer on. At one time, one of my computers had 3 different versions of .NET and none of them could be uninstalled without affecting software operation.

The Adobe tech was searching for a problem with the Adobe software, not the Microsoft Platform it was running on. He did his job. Keeping the platform up to date is a user issue.
