my first....
I have never been asked to leave somewhere before....
Now I understand what you guys go through to get the shots...
I think I'll stick with photographing wildlife....they're much more friendly...
Best shot of the day was the swan while walking back to the car...

Yep...just realized that posting from my phone isn't really good...
I know there is distracting green stuff in the pics, but I didn't want to scare the swan away...

Great photos! Thanks for sharing them with us !
Yes...apparently the Notre Dame cathedral doesn't allow professional photographers in there...and if you saw my pics from there, you'd know I'm not a pro...
Cell phone pic are ok though...just not real cameras...
And we called and had permission to be there...that's what really got me...
Guess someone was having a bad day and took it out on us...

It's got to be hard differentiating between a phone and a P&S or mirrorless. A D4 with a 70-200mm tends to attract attention, but a mirrorless with a small lens could pass for a cell phone. I'm sure that's part of the appeal of the mirrorless cameras - smaller and less obtrusive.
Sad thing is....none of the pictures of the stained glass windows turned out well...
A pro would have gotten the lighting right on them...

Thank you!!!
I'm much better at photographing wildlife than stained glass!
One of these days I'll learn how to fix things in Photoshop. ..

Yes, with a tripod and enough time. And that's probably why they don't want pros. Still, a handheld camera should not be a problem, regardless of make or model.

Since my tripod is an old heavy one, I was hand holding the whole time....didn't even try to take it....was a 3 hr drive and wasnt sure if there would be room in the trunk....definitely didn't want to have to hold it the whole time...
And they said tripods were ok when she called to ask about going up there...I'm not sure why they were like that...probably someone just hsving a bad day....

Dragon, sorry you were booted out.
I was there last year with my full backpack of gear on my back and it has a tripod strapped to it.
Now granted, my dslr most likely had a 50 on it, which is pretty much my default indoor lens.
Then again, though I was trying to act like a pro, I obviously was failing miserably at it.
You on the other hand, must have pulled off the pro part with aplomb. Congratulations.
I'll try harder to get kicked out next time!!
Happy shooting. SS

Dragon, sorry you were booted out. br I was there... (

It must have been because we didn't take the full packs and all...I took the wide angle lens on the camera and the telephoto in my little bag...
And I did learn....I need to bracket the picture to get the stained glass windows right....something new to me....
Maybe it was because there were 10 of us and not just one...
